Shepparton, the fifth-largest city in Victoria, is located in the north of the state, about 200 kilometres in-land from the state capital Melbourne. The settlement was first established on a miners' route in the 19th century.
The University of Melbourne and La Trobe University both have campus facilities in Shepparton, and the city is home to Kidstown, one of the largest outdoor play centres for children in Australia.
